The Colombian Hass avocado market continues to gain popularity in North American homes and events.

As is customary, during the Super Bowl, 6,512 tons of this variety of fruit from Colombia were consumed, representing an increase of 350 percent in exports for this event alone, compared to the 1,336 tons exported last year, according to the Colombian Agricultural Institute, an entity attached to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
One of the key processes was the execution of the program “Inspection at Origin,” in which 20 packing plants from Antioquia, Quindío, Caldas, Valle del Cauca and Risaralda participated. Thanks to this, a large percentage of the avocado was inspected directly at the source, which allowed for a more efficient logistics operation, with greater control by the ICA to verify compliance with phytosanitary conditions, ensuring the admissibility of the purchasing countries.
The Super Bowl has established itself as a key platform for the consumption of Colombian Hass avocado, and the country’s producers have seen this event as an opportunity to position this fruit under the Avocados from Colombia brand.
In 2023, this subsector achieved economic growth of $180.1 million, and in 2024, $267.3 million, representing an increase of 48.5 percent, according to figures cited by Corpohass.
Colombia’s positioning in the U.S. Hass avocado is due to the quality of the product, the opening of new markets, and the increase in production, ICA reports.
The areas of cultivation and the adoption of sustainable agricultural practices have allowed this export offer to continue to increase every year.
