NASHVILLE, TN – For me, the Southeast Produce Council’s Southern Innovations is almost like a sneak preview for fall product launches that typically happen at the “big” produce show in October.
This year’s Southern Innovations expo featured about 200 booths for a buyer-heavy 1,400 attendees. Here’s what got me to stop and ask, or take a second look.
Farm Direct Supply LLC BB #:288187 recently launched a new brand for tropical fruit, Tropiful, which features a bright, colorful, and fun look for items like rambutans, kiwi berries, and dragonfruit.

Calavo Growers BB #:113203 has a new way to keep guacamoles fresh. The Squeeze & Savor! packaging has an air lock-style opening that extends shelf life to 14 days past opening.

Give Fresh Express BB #:115030 all the credit for the dual presentation of its new Hot or Cold Salad and Noodle meal kits. I, and other attendees, were a little confused by the split plate, but having both right there in front of you really highlighted the versatility offered in the different eating experiences.

A long-time staple recipe recommendation for collard greens fans, I last tasted WP Rawl’s BB #:376517 Collard Greens Dip as a new product concept. I’m happy to report it’s moving into retail distribution this fall. It’s a different take on the entertainment classic spinach or artichoke dip that I think a lot of people will find appealing.

Bolthouse Fresh Foods BB #:394665 has a new design and flavor for a product introduced a while back. Carrot Shakers initially launched in ranch and chili lime, and now offer trendy dill pickle as an option. These are a lower-calorie alternative to carrots and dip, great for snacking.

Sunview International’s BB #:133194 iconic raisin cannisters have a new look and packaging material. The shape is a little easier to grip, and clear plastic allows consumers to see product inside.

Naturipe Farms BB #:116078 has a new snacking option, Berry Buddies, that include berries and a sweet treat. This one caught my eye because who doesn’t love breakfast at any time of the day?
