Dairyland Produce recalls jalapenos because of possible health risk
Dairyland Produce, dba Hardie’s Fresh Foods of Houston and Dallas, recalls jalapenos because of potential Salmonella contamination.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration released this company announcement August 17, 2026:
Dairyland Produce, LLC BB #:365798, dba Hardie’s Fresh Foods of Houston, TX BB #:396960 and Dallas, TX BB #:396962 are recalling PEPPER JALAPENO 5#, because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.
Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.
The Jalapenos were distributed to the following Costco locations:
- Store #1487 at 12717 Network Drive, Stafford, TX
- Store #0655 at 8282 Park Lane, Dallas, TX
The affected jalapenos are in clear plastic bags with labels like the photo attached.
Lot codes being recalled are: X2741775, X2741859, X2744163, X2744706, X2746349, X2746490, X2748743. Production dates are: 26192 (07/11/26), 26196 (07/15/26), 26197 (07/16/26), 26199 (07/18/26), and 26203 (07/22/26).
These jalapenos were repacked by Hardie’s Fresh Foods. Hardies’ Fresh Foods has ceased the production and distribution of the product.
Consumers who have purchased these jalapenos are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact the company at 1-281-697-7067, Monday through Friday, 8 AM-5 PM CST.
