March 2026 Toronto, ON — Bondi Produce BB #:158477 is celebrating 50 years of serving Toronto’s restaurant and foodservice industry, marking a milestone for the family-run business that has supported chefs and operators across the GTA for decades.

Founded in 1976 by Gus Bondi’s father, the company remains deeply rooted in family leadership — now led by Gus, with all three of his sons actively involved in the business today.

What began as a small produce operation has grown into a trusted supplier known for quality product, consistency, and strong relationships with both chefs and growers.

Over the years, Bondi has evolved alongside the industry — navigating shifting supply chains, seasonal volatility, and increasing demand for high-quality, chef-driven products.

“My father sold produce out of his car,” Bondi said. “I grew up on the warehouse floor. You show up, you work hard, and you make sure what goes on the truck is right. We’ve been doing that for fifty years. I’m proud of what our team has built here.”

This milestone comes at a time when the foodservice industry continues to face ongoing challenges, from supply chain disruptions to rising costs — making strong supplier partnerships more important than ever.

“The pandemic fundamentally changed how this industry operates — consumer habits shifted, supply chains were exposed, and the operators who survived came out sharper and more demanding. That’s a good thing. What hasn’t changed is that every chef, every restaurateur, still needs someone showing up at their back door with the right product, on time, every single day. The stakes have never been higher and the choices in produce suppliers have never been more abundant — we know that. So we treat every order like it’s our first. It’s a privilege to support Ontario’s kitchens, and we don’t take a single delivery for granted.”

In recent years, Bondi has expanded its offering to include specialty products and fresh-cut solutions through The Produce Counter, while also growing its distribution footprint into Ottawa with the acquisition of Orleans Fresh Fruit in September.

“We’ve spent fifty years building something our family is proud of, and we’re just getting started. The acquisition of Orleans Fresh Fruit, the growth of The Produce Counter, our specialty programs — it’s all in service of one thing: making sure the chefs we work with have everything they need from one team they trust. The next chapter for Bondi is about growing without losing what got us here. We want to be the partner Ontario’s foodservice industry builds with for the next fifty years.”

Fifty years in, the business remains grounded in the same values it was built on — with a continued focus on relationships, quality, and supporting the chefs and communities it serves.
