As executive vice president of the well-established Mixtec Group BB #:152072 in La Crescenta, CA, Kristen Reid has her finger on the pulse of the industry and is well aware of who is where, how long they’ve been there, and if they’d be willing to leap to a new high-level opportunity.

Here’s how she ended up in the recruiting world.

“Once I decided I wasn’t going to be a therapist, I fell in love with the idea of psychology at work and wanted to go into some kind of consulting field. I liked the idea of different projects all the time and getting to see different types of companies.

“Pepperdine University was really big on nonprofit work and volunteerism, so out of college I joined a for-profit firm consulting in the nonprofit space. Specifically, they were fundraising, and a tiny portion of the business was recruiting.

“They needed someone to help on the recruiting side. I gave it a try and loved the idea of putting people in organizations that shared their passion. I didn’t love the fundraising side of the job, so I Googled recruiting companies in my area and met with about 30, including Mixtec Group.”

For more about Kristen and the highs and lows of recruiting, what still surprises her about the process, and her expectations for the rest of the year and beyond, come back here this Saturday, October 3, for the full interview.
