CHICAGO, Ill., Oct. 13, 2026 — Blue Book, the fresh food trade’s trusted source since 1901, today launches Supplier Scorecard, a new way for retailers, wholesalers and foodservice distributors to measure the suppliers they buy from and see how each one performs against the rest of the market.
Supplier Scorecard brings a buyer’s own purchasing, receiving and quality data together with Blue Book’s market view, so category and procurement teams can spot a slipping supplier early, understand the cause and act before their customers feel it.
“Buyers have always known their own numbers. What they haven’t had is the context around them,” said Kirk Soule, CEO of Blue Book. “For 125 years the trade has come to Blue Book to understand who it’s doing business with. Supplier Scorecard carries that into day-to-day buying. A buyer can see when a supplier is slipping, check whether the market held, and find a qualified backup without starting from scratch.”
Fresh food buyers manage dozens or hundreds of suppliers, but most can only judge them through their own orders. When a supplier ships short, arrives late or fails inspection, it is hard to tell whether that supplier is slipping or the whole market is tight. Supplier Scorecard answers that question by putting each supplier’s record side by side with the rest of the market.
With Supplier Scorecard, buying teams can:
- See every supplier in one view. In-full delivery, quality and price for every category and supplier, measured against the market rather than in isolation.
- Find the cause. See which suppliers carry each category and whether a problem belongs to one supplier or to the season.
- Weigh price against service. Compare what a supplier charges with how it delivers, side by side.
- Get insight on demand. Instant summaries of what changed, why it matters and what to consider next.
- Find new options, on the record. When a backup is needed, compare suppliers using market performance and Blue Book data.
Supplier Scorecard combines a buyer’s purchase order, receiving, quality and pricing data with what Blue Book adds: a view of the rest of the market built from more than 8,000 contributing stores, price comparison, Blue Book financial data on roughly 22,000 companies, and on-demand analysis.
Supplier Scorecard is available now to retailers, wholesalers and foodservice distributors. Blue Book will give live demonstrations at IFPA Global Produce & Floral Show in Orlando, Oct. 15–16, at booth 3833.
