June 13, 2025 – The Alliance for Food and Farming’s (AFF) 2025 Safe Fruits and Veggies Farm Tour will take place from August 4 to August 6 in the Salinas Valley.
The tour will feature strawberries, leafy greens and vegetable crops as well as highlight tech innovations on farms and in processing facilities.
These tours provide nutrition communicators and social influencers a firsthand look at the care and commitment by farmers, farm workers and farming companies to grow, harvest and deliver safe and nutritious fruits and vegetables to consumers.
The 2025 tour guests are contributors to NBC News, New York Times, Washington Post, the Today Show, The Cooking Channel, Eat This, Not That, Shape, Today’s Dietitian, WebMD, Cooking Light, Women’s Health, Martha Stewart, Eating Well, Parents, among other outlets. In addition to their work in mainstream media, they are also influencers with significant reach on social media.
This year’s list of AFF’s tour guests include: Laura Burak, Samantha Cassetty, Jessica Crandall Snyder, Ginger Hultin, Charlotte Martin, Nijya Noble, Sarah Schlichter, and Alexandra Turnbull.
This is the eighth tour conducted by the AFF since 2017. This year’s tour will begin with a visit to a strawberry farm to see harvest and innovative pest control strategies. Next AFF guests will visit a research facility to see how new strawberry varieties are developed and the complexities involved with bringing a variety into commercial production.
Day two will feature both manual and robotic harvesting at D’Arrigo California’s romaine hearts and broccoli rabe farms. Guests will then tour D’Arrigo’s processing facility as well as their seed development lab.
The AFF extends our sincere thanks to the sponsors who are making this tour possible including the California Strawberry Commission, D’Arrigo California, the International Fresh Produce Association, and Western Growers Association. Sponsor representatives will participate in all aspects of the tour to provide their expertise and information to the AFF guests.
We often say we wish every consumer could see the diligent work of fruit and vegetable farmers and their commitment to food safety. These tours provide the opportunity to share that work with influencers who reach millions of consumers through their websites, articles, media appearances, blogs, books, podcasts and social media channels.
The guests will communicate their on-farm experiences with their audiences during and after the tour. So stay tuned for social posts and blogs from our guests, sponsors and the AFF in August at @safeproduce.
