We’re turning 125 with more members than we’ve ever had. Instead of telling our own story, we’d like to spend the year telling yours.
Blue Book has never really been a company so much as a network of people who agreed, a long time ago, that the produce business works better when you can find out who you’re dealing with.
That agreement gets renewed every day by the people in it — someone reports a pay experience, someone gives a reference, someone picks up the phone for a stranger trying to decide whether to ship.
This is also the largest that this network has ever been. More than 750 companies joined in the past year alone, and most of them came because somebody they trade with told them to. That’s an industry taking care of itself, and it’s worth celebrating in the words of the people doing it.
So for the anniversary, we’re collecting 125 member stories and featuring them everywhere we can.
The questions are short, and only one is required:
- What’s the hardest part of this industry right now, and where does Blue Book help you handle it?
- What does being a member mean to you?
- What would you say to a company that isn’t part of Blue Book yet?
Answer the way you’d say it talking to a friend or colleague — the specific stories are the good ones.
And we want the full range of this trade: family houses listed since your grandfather ran the place, companies that joined eight months ago, growers, brokers, receivers, carriers, one-truck operations and big ones alike.
Stories will run in The Produce Reporter newsletter, across our channels, and in how we mark the 125th at the IFPA Global Show in October. Your company named, your people credited, in front of the trade that comes to us every week to find their next trading partner.
