Copenhagen, Denmark – 20 July 2026. World Food Trading, a food trading company specializing in Fruit & Vegetables and Meat & Poultry, has completed the acquisition of Sweet Fresh Produce BB #:421317.
This step strengthens World Food Trading’s global Fruit & Vegetables platform by bringing together sourcing, logistics, and customers across multiple regions.
The acquisition adds South American supply and a strong U.S. retail base to World Food Trading’s existing European fruit and vegetable business and follows World Food Trading’s approach of entering new markets by partnering with people who already know them.
Sweet Fresh Produce will continue to operate in the United States and Canada, and Erdinc Guler will take up the role of Global CEO, Fruit & Vegetables, at World Food Trading, in addition to his role as CEO of Sweet Fresh Produce.
Since the collaboration between the two companies gained momentum in spring 2026, the partners have shipped 70 FCLs of citrus through the Port of Philadelphia to customers in New York, Philadelphia, and Miami, with supply programs that began in Morocco and have since expanded to Peru, with South Africa set to follow.
Including a newly started supply program for juice production to a customer in Miami, the partners forecast a total of 150 FCLs to the U.S. market in 2026, underlining the strong rationale behind the partnership and the acquisition of Sweet Fresh Produce.
The acquisition positions Sweet Fresh Produce for further growth in the North American market, particularly in citrus, while creating a platform to expand into new fresh produce categories in the years ahead.
“Our approach has always been to work with people and companies that share our culture, are able to challenge us, and who know their business and market in a way outsiders never can. From the first conversations to joining Erdinc Guler in New York, it has been clear that this was a strong match. True to that approach, we are glad to keep building on it. With Erdinc Guler in charge of our global Fruit & Vegetables business, World Food Trading will continue to deliver great service and product to our suppliers and customers,” says Martin Gade Gregersen, Chairman of World Food Trading.
“Having worked in the food trading industry for more than 25 years, I know how important it is to work with strong partners. With Sweet Fresh Produce, we have a strong supplier and customer base across North and South America. Combined with World Food Trading’s existing setup in Europe and North Africa, we can serve customers with an even stronger offering,” says Erdinc Guler, Global CEO, Fruit & Vegetables, World Food Trading, and CEO, Sweet Fresh Produce.
