Austin, TX-based Whole Foods Market BB #:147784 plans to cut “several hundred” corporate jobs as the company restructures its regional and global offices.
According to an article in the Wall Street Journal, the company informed employees of the cuts, which account to about 0.5% of the company’s 105,000-member workforce, in a memo, and that no stores or distribution centers are planned for closure.
The changes reportedly are taking place in the company’s regional vs. global office structure, and three regional presidents are leaving Whole Foods. Reorganization is expected to happen over the next two months.
The company, owned by Amazon operating about 550 stores, plans to continue opening new stores at a steady pace, with more than 50 new stores currently in development.
Whole Foods CEO Jason Buechel, who took over the position in 2022 after John Mackey’s retirement,?recently shared his “Growing with Purpose” vision for the company, which focused on four key areas:
- Creating the best customer experience in stores and online;
- Investing in Team Member growth and happiness;
- Delivering exceptional business performance; and
- Expanding reach to serve customers in new ways.
