Rochester, NY-based Wegmans Food Markets isn’t planning to open its first New York City location until this fall, but hiring has already begun for select positions.
The new 74,000-square-foot store, including a second-floor mezzanine and 100-seat in-store café, will have Wegmans’ signature European open-air market look and feel, according to a news release. It’s located in the Admirals Row development at the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
The company plans to hire about 500 people, including 150 full time positions, according to a news release.
Wegmans currently operates 98 stores in six states and plans to expand to three new markets in 2019: Virginia Beach, VA; Raleigh, NC; and Brooklyn, NY.
