Walmart BB #:143789 executives say artificial intelligence will dramatically change its workforce, and they predict it will affect every other company’s workforce.

At a Walmart conference with other company executives last week, CEO Doug McMillon said Walmart plans to confront how AI will change its labor force.

“It’s very clear that AI is going to change literally every job,” McMillon said, according to the Wall Street Journal. “Maybe there’s a job in the world that AI won’t change, but I haven’t thought of it.”

He said Walmart plans to maintain its employee size of about 2.1 million around the world over the next three years even as revenue rises.

The retailer has already built chat bots for customers, suppliers, and employees and has automated many warehouses, which use AI technology.

However, McMillon said Walmart does not plan to use humanoid robots in consumer-facing roles.

“Until we’re serving humanoid robots and they have the ability to spend money, we’re serving people,” he said. “We’re going to put people in front of people.”
