Wakefern and ShopRite sponsor 2026 Special Olympics

Ewing, NJ (June 5, 2026) – Wakefern Food Corp. BB #:101244 and ShopRite are proud to continue their longstanding support of the Special Olympics New Jersey Summer Games, taking place June 5–7 at The College of New Jersey. More than 300 volunteers — including Wakefern team members, ShopRite associates and their families — will lend their time and energy throughout the event, continuing a nearly 40-year tradition at the games.

Over the course of the weekend, Wakefern and ShopRite will provide 18,000 meals to athletes, families and volunteers. Team members will also distribute snacks and help organize activities and giveaways for athletes and their families to enjoy between competitions. During last week’s ShopRite LPGA powered by Wakefern, ShopRite and Coca-Cola hosted the annual Special Olympics New Jersey Golf Clinic where ShopRite also announced a $150,000 donation to expand opportunities for athletes with Special Olympics New Jersey.

The event kicks off Friday, June 5, with the 43rd annual Law Enforcement Torch Run, which raises awareness and funds for the Special Olympics movement. The torch will stop at nearly 50 ShopRite locations across New Jersey, where associates will provide refreshments for participants.
