Woodland, California, July 2026 – Sakata Seed BB #:379645, a global leader in seed breeding and broccoli innovation, announced the launch of its new broccoli product logo—marking a bold step forward in the company’s visual identity while reinforcing its long-standing reputation for quality, performance, and trust.

The new logo reflects Sakata’s forward-looking approach to innovation while honoring its rich history as a preferred partner for growers around the world. It highlights the company’s ongoing commitment to delivering reliable, high-performing products that meet evolving market needs.

“As the market leader in broccoli, our brand should reflect the excellence and momentum behind our products,” said Alicia Suits, Senior Marketing Manager at Sakata. “This logo is more than a design—it represents our continued leadership and vision for the future.”

Alongside the logo launch, Sakata introduced the Eastern Broccoli Bulletin, a new resource designed to support growers in key Eastern production regions. The bulletin highlights varieties specifically developed for these markets and provides insights to help growers maximize performance, profitability, and adaptability.

Sakata’s leadership in broccoli is built on decades of focused innovation for regional markets, including a long-standing commitment to the Eastern United States. The company introduced its first widely adopted Eastern variety, Green Valiant, in 1987—establishing a strong foundation for continued breeding advancements tailored to the region’s unique conditions.

“Our long-standing commitment to the Eastern U.S. market includes specialized breeding for its challenging climates. Since the 1980s, Sakata has developed resilient, high-performing varieties for the Northeast and Southeast, supported by ongoing trials and regional adaptation at our Florida research station,” states Matt Linder, Sakata’s Brassica Crop Senior Business Unit Manager.

Over the past 40 years, Sakata has expanded its Eastern portfolio with proven varieties such as Green Valiant, Arcadia, Decathalon, Nomad, Gypsy, Diplomat, Emerald Crown, Emerald Pride, and Eastern Crown. These adaptable hybrids deliver consistent performance across multiple regions and thrive in variable climates—helping Eastern growers succeed despite hot, humid, and unpredictable weather conditions. Today, Sakata continues to build on this legacy by developing solutions that address evolving production challenges while maintaining the quality and reliability growers expect.

Further reinforcing its innovation pipeline, Sakata also introduced two new broccoli varieties—Target and Archer—seed available beginning Fall 2026.

Target is a crown/short-trim type with excellent harvest uniformity, producing heavy, firm heads with fine bead quality and a distinctive mushroom shape, making it ideal for the crown-cut market. It’s adaptable to drier, milder climates.

Archer is a versatile, multi-use variety with strong floret capability. It performs well in coastal California’s mild summer conditions and has shown positive results in Northeast fresh markets and in Mexico for floret production.

Together, these new introductions underscore Sakata’s dedication to developing high-performing broccoli varieties that meet the needs of growers across diverse regions and market segments.
