Lazarski points out that while the greenhouse industry is saturated in some countries, such as The Netherlands, where lack of land and/or high energy costs have led to greenhouse innovation, the United States is a different story. “There’s a lot of room to grow,” he notes, adding, “I think you’ll see more greenhouses built to fill some of that white space.”

Will all of this growth have a negative impact on conventionally grown produce? Stone believes there will always be plenty of field-grown crops during respective local seasons, “but because of the climate and demand, going to glass is to everyone’s benefit,” he says. “Transitions seem to be a strength in this industry; it has always progressed and transitioned into more modern ways.”
