Crops to be affected by Hurricane Polo

Heavy rain from Hurricane Polo is expected to hit southwest Mexico today.
According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s National Hurricane Center, the areas affected by the storm today range from Tecpan de Galeana to Manzanillo.
Polo is forecast to approach Baja California early next week as a hurricane.
In an alert released this week by Markon Cooperative BB #:123315, avocados and limes are the primary items to monitor early this week. Chiles, cucumbers, squash, and tomatoes could see potential impacts later this week and early next week if Hurricane Polo veers toward the Baja California Peninsula, as it is forecast to do.
Heavy rainfall may trigger flash flooding, mudslides, road closures, and loading or crossing delays, especially in steep terrain and coastal shipping corridors, Markon says.
