CPMA presents 2019 awards

MONTREAL—Bernadette Hamel had an idea something was up when the Canadian Produce Marketing Association asked her to come to the convention this year.

Hamel, who recently retired from Metro Inc., was presented with the CPMA Lifetime Achievement Award and received the award with a Florida tan.

“Normally this should be a surprise, but since you had to draw me away from Florida, I had a chance to prepare a speech for you,” she said, upon accepting the award from Metro’s Christian Bourbonnière.

“I carry in my heart a lifetime of happy and great memories, merci beaucoup,” Hamel said.

Hamel was honored at the awards breakfast, along with the CPMA’s inaugural Corporate Culture Award Winner, Canadawide Wholesale, Montreal; and the Mary Fitzgerald Award Winner, Ryan Goad, Category Director at Loblaw Cos. Ltd.
