City Grocery, a newly-launched e-commerce offering from Walmart’s Jet, now offers meal kits from Blue Apron Holdings Inc.
The pilot program is available across most of New York City, Jersey City and Hoboken, NJ for same-day or next-day delivery.
“Teaming up with Jet enables us to dynamically serve the lifestyle of metropolitan consumers, who will now be able to conveniently fill up their online shopping carts with high quality Blue Apron meals that can be cooked in 30 minutes or less while shopping for other everyday needs,” said Blue Apron CEO Brad Dickerson, in a news release. “This exciting launch is another step forward in our channel expansion strategy and reflects the strength of the capabilities we are developing to readily support a variety of opportunities to broaden our access to consumers.”
City Grocery offers shoppers 3-hour scheduled delivery windows for “groceries, everyday essentials and other select merchandise,” according to a news release.
The kits offered on Jet.com/blueapron are:
- Seared Steaks & Peperonata with Fregola Sarda Pasta & Grana Padano Cheese (2 servings, 28 oz) $22.99
- Dukkah-Spiced Beef & Couscous with Tahini-Dressed Broccoli (2 servings, 41 oz.) $20.99
- Togarashi Popcorn Chicken with Sweet Chili Slaw & Jasmine Rice (2 servings, 32 oz.) $18.99
- Italian Farro Bowl with Roasted Vegetables & Mozzarella (2 servings, 32 oz.) $16.99.
Jet was launched in 2015 and acquired by Bentonville, AR-based Walmart Inc. in 2016.
Blue Apron, which started as a subscription service, has been diversifying its go-to-market strategy over the past several months, initially trialing in-store kits at Costco Wholesale stores at a 30% discount over subscription.
The pilot started in May at 17 stores in the Pacific Northwest and San Francisco Bay Area.
