The Board of Directors of Big Y Foods, Inc. is pleased to announce the appointment of Jim Wilson as Director of Workforce Management, succeeding Jim Killian who has retired. . In his new role, Wilson will oversee workforce management operations, including labor budgeting, for all 77 Big Y stores including their World Class Markets, supermarkets, Fresh Acres Specialty Market, Table and Vine wine and liquor division and Big Y Express Gas and Convenience locations. He reports to Richard Bossie, vice president of store operations.
Wilson is an industry veteran with over 30 years of experience and he celebrated 25 years with Big Y this past year. In 1985, he started working for Big D Supermarkets in Worcester, MA in various positions, including as a bagger and a courtesy booth attendant. In 1991, he was hired by Big Y as a full time head cashier in their Holden, MA store. He would hold several different positions with Big Y in several locations over the next few years, including the night manager of the Worcester store from 1993 to 1994. Later in 1994, Wilson was accepted into Big Y’s store manager training program. In 1996, he was appointed store manager in the Worcester location. By 2000, he began working in the chain’s corporate headquarters in the finance department as business process manager and later the treasury and budget manager. From 2005 to 2017 he went back into the stores as the director of 4 different locations in Massachusetts, most recently in Franklin, MA.
Wilson received a Bachelor of Arts in Business Management from the University of Maine in Orono, ME as well as a Master’s in Business Administration from Anna Maria College in Paxton, MA. Jim lives with his wife Gina in Westborough, MA. They have 4 children.
