New York – August 21, 2025 – Taconic Partners and National Real Estate Advisors have signed a lease with Aldi BB #:116756, America’s fastest growing grocer, at The Ellery, a new luxury rental residential offering, designed by renowned architectural firm Handel Architects, that spans 32 stories in the heart of Midtown Manhattan.

The 25,000-square foot Aldi location will provide prime space on 42nd Street, on the edge of Times Square, one of the most heavily trafficked shopping and pedestrian corridors in the world.

With a smaller, thoughtfully designed footprint, Aldi shoppers can expect a quick, easy shopping experience with great products at the lowest possible prices. Aldi saves shoppers time and money by carrying a carefully curated range of products—removing the guesswork from shopping and selling exactly what they need.

“The Aldi flagship location at The Ellery marks a major milestone in the transformation of the Times Square area into a premier residential destination,” said George Tsapelas, Senior Vice President, Taconic Partners. “Aldi is an ideal neighborhood partner, offering the West Side a much-needed grocery store that will resonate with our residents and the community.”

“Aldi signing a lease at The Ellery reflects the kind of strategic placemaking that drives long-term value,” said Jeffrey Kanne, President and CEO, National Real Estate Advisors. “This milestone underscores our commitment to developing innovative, mixed-use assets that aim to generate strong returns for our clients.”

“Opening our first store in the heart of Manhattan will be a significant milestone for Aldi as we continue to expand access to affordable, quality groceries in the most in-demand locations across the country,” said Chris Daniels, Regional Vice President, Aldi. “This location will allow us to provide New Yorkers with a simpler, quicker, and more enjoyable shopping experience with great products at the lowest prices, every day.”

In addition to the Aldi space, The Ellery’s retail offering includes 19,000 square feet of ground floor space spanning 42nd Street to 43rd Street with multiple possible subdivisions. The remaining retail space includes 160 feet of frontage and 18-foot ceiling heights, ideal for experiential users, neighborhood retailers, or food and beverage spaces looking to plant their flag in Times Square.

The retail announcement with Aldi follows the recent full lease-up of the residences at The Ellery in fewer than 11 months after launching. Located at 312 West 43rd Street in Manhattan, The Ellery’s global interest and rapid velocity can be attributed to its luxury condo-level offerings, including best-in-class residences, expansive views on all sides, spa- and hospitality-level amenities, museum-quality art installations (including a stunning Spencer Finch piece commissioned for the lobby and amenity floors), and a rooftop pool high above the city.

A CBRE team led by Lon Rubackin, Senior Vice President; Michael Kadosh, Senior Vice President; and Bevan Cohen, Associate, represented the ownership group. Aldi was represented by Esther Bukai, Vice Chair, from Ripco.

Opening of the Aldi location at The Ellery is anticipated in 2026.
