May 05, 2025, Uruapan, Michoacán, Mexico – As part of the celebration of Cinco de Mayo, a date that has gained great relevance in the United States as a symbol of Mexican cultural pride, the APEAM A.C. (Association of Producers and Packers Exporters of Avocado of Mexico), announces the shipment of 96,379 tons of Mexican avocado to the U.S. market.
Cinco de Mayo represents one of the seasons with the highest avocado consumption in the United States along with the Super Bowl, especially in iconic dishes such as guacamole, which is already part of the culinary identity in these celebrations.
The growing demand on this date translates into a crucial opportunity to strengthen the presence of Mexican avocados and endorse their quality, flavor and freshness in one of the most demanding markets in the world.
This dynamic not only positions Mexican fruit as an emblem of the country’s pride and cultural heritage, but also represents an important economic benefit for thousands of producing, packing, and farmworker families in Michoacán and Jalisco, generating jobs and promoting regional development.
Every avocado that reaches America’s tables carries with it a story of effort, pride, and responsibility. That is why APEAM together with Avocados From Mexico (AFM), the Avo Institute and The Mexican Hass Avocado Importer Association (MHAIA), have joined forces to mark the Sustainability Route for the future, where sustainable agricultural practices, environmental protection and the well-being of communities are promoted. With this, the association reaffirms its commitment to a fairer, greener and more prosperous future for all actors in the avocado chain.
