USDA celebrates National Farmers Market Week August 1-7

Tom Vilsack, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture, released a proclamation celebrating National Farmers Market Week August 1-7.

“I call upon the American people to celebrate farmers markets with appropriate observances and activities,” he said in the proclamation.

USDA also posted on its blog the Agricultural Marketing Service resources that support farmers markets.

AMS supports farmers markets in four ways:

  • grants
  • data
  • technical assistance, and
  • promotion.
